In my humble for what its worth, i think Ali in his prime would have danced around Tyson avoided trouble and then battered him, Tyson was fast for a heavyweight but didnt have the boxing brain of Ali.

Ali smarter and faced tougher competition in his prime, I think Fraser was better than Iron Mike.

I think Ali would have taken Tyson but only just. Also think Lennox Lewis would have taken Ali.
Away from the heavyweights I reckon Sugar Ray Leonard was best ever pound for pound.

I just reckon Lewis was really underated. He beat the best of his generation and looked slower than he was because he was so big. People only remember Ali for the Frazier n Foreman fights. Norton chinned him and got conned on the decision in the next. And lets not forget Joe fucking Bugner took him the distance and rocked him.

Ali took on some awesome boxers in his time, Liston was supposed to be the meanest boxer to walk the earth but Ali did him, Foreman was supposed to be unbeatable, he had knocked Fraser off his feet, Ali went into that fight with the world expecting him to be hurt badly, but against the odds he won. Ali had the best boxing brain ever, he adapted for each fight, he may not have had the hardest punch but he could take a hit and was fast, all in all thats why he was/is the greatest and why Tyson although an animal would have been beaten. Ali fought animals and won.

It's common knowledge that when Ali beat Liston the mafia had Listons family at gun point and he was given strict instrutions when to take a dive. I agree that Ali was a good boxer but as in all boxing there was a little bit of help from other factions shall we say!!

Not sure about the gun point theory, but certainly the second fight has always been questioned with the punch that never was: Thing is Liston did actually take a punch and this has been proved with the aid of slow motion as it is today, Ali always said he threw a great punch and called it his anchor punch, whether it was such a great punch to floor someone of Listons calibre is where the debate comes in. First fight, i think Liston just gave up because he seriously expected to go in the ring and just knock the new young upstart out within 2-3 rounds, when he couldnt i think he thought fuck it.

There were claims that Liston had bet against himself and "took a dive" because he owed money to the Mafia. There was also something else i read somewhere about threats of some sort to his family. I think even Ali was surprised when Liston hit the deck and if memory serves me right Liston was on the deck for 20 seconds as he knew that Ali had not gone to a neutral corner and the ref would not count until he had. I might be a littl confused but as you get older the grey matter plays tricks on yer. One thing i do know was our Enery did not want to fight Liston but he did get in the ring with Ali and to all intents and purposes beat him, only for Ali's glove mysteriously split!!

I'm so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and was in bed before the room was dark.
